An old man holding a cley cup, a 'Kulhar', with hot chai near Sadar street in Kolakta. Cley cups are the 'paper cups' of India. An estimated 17 million (1.7 crore) kulhars are consumed in India every day. There are proposals within the railway ministry to double the production of kulhars to over 30 million (3 crores) a day by making them more user-friendly and increasing their availability at railway stations and trains, but how far this move will be succesful waits to be seen.
